The Book Club Host Kit

A book club meeting can feel relaxed and natural while still having enough structure to keep the conversation moving.

The Book Club Host Kit is made for first-time and recurring hosts of small social book clubs who do not want to build a new agenda from scratch every month. It gives you ready-to-use meeting guides, adaptable discussion prompts, Host Rescue cues, and simple pages for notes and next steps.

Use only the pages that help your group.

Start with one ready-made timed guide:

• 30 minutes for a focused conversation.

• 60 minutes for a complete, flexible meeting.

• 90 minutes for a longer discussion with room for two major topics.

Each guide gives the host a clear beginning, middle and close while leaving room for the conversation to develop naturally.

You do not need to set anything up or follow a required sequence. Choose the meeting length that fits, bring the questions you want to discuss, and keep the support pages nearby.

The kit includes adaptable prompts for fiction and nonfiction, plus genre-specific questions for fiction, mystery and thriller, memoir and nonfiction.

Host Rescue gives you practical help for six common meeting problems:

• the room goes quiet;

• one person talks too much;

• several people did not finish;

• the group drifts away from the book;

• disagreement becomes personal;

• time is running out.

Each situation includes one immediate action and one sentence the host can say aloud. The goal is not to control the room. It is to help the host steady the conversation and move forward.

The recap is optional. You do not need to use every page or follow a required sequence.

1. Choose your file

Use the Print version to write by hand, or the Fillable version to type directly into the PDF. Choose US Letter or A4 to match your paper size.

2. Choose your meeting length

Use the 30-, 60- or 90-minute guide that fits the meeting. Bring your own questions or choose a few from the included discussion prompts.

3. Plan, host and close

Use the Meeting Planner before the meeting, keep Host Rescue nearby during the discussion, and record what mattered with Meeting Notes & Ratings. Use the next-book page or Optional Club Recap only when they are useful.

This product includes print PDFs and fillable PDFs in US Letter and A4 sizes.

Print PDFs can be opened and printed from a standard PDF reader. Fillable PDFs require a compatible PDF reader.

For the most reliable fillable-PDF experience:

• download the PDF to your device before opening it;

• use Adobe Acrobat Reader for filling and saving the fillable PDFs;

• save a new copy after entering your information so the original remains blank for future meetings.

Software behavior can vary by device and version. Browser previews and some mobile PDF apps may not preserve all form behavior.

For printing:

• select 100% or Actual Size unless your printer requires another option;

• check the print preview before printing the full kit;

• print only the pages you want to use;

• use the dedicated Print PDF when you plan to write by hand.

Colors may vary between screens and printed pages because of differences in monitors, printers, ink and paper.

Canva, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, GoodNotes and Notion are not required.

Editable Canva templates, Word documents, design-source files and physical products are not included. The fillable versions are PDFs, not editable page-layout templates.

Is this a physical product?

No. This is a digital download. No physical item will be shipped. The product download is one ZIP containing the five PDF files described in the listing.

Which paper sizes are included?

Both US Letter and A4 are included. US Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches; A4 is 210 × 297 millimeters. Choose the version that matches the paper you use.

What is the difference between the Print and Fillable PDFs?

The Print PDFs are designed for printing and writing on by hand. The Fillable PDFs let you type into the included form fields using a compatible PDF reader. They are not editable page-layout templates.

Which PDF reader should I use?

Adobe Acrobat Reader is recommended for filling and saving the fillable PDFs. For the most reliable form experience, download the PDF to your device before opening it. Browser previews and some mobile PDF apps may not preserve all form behavior. Compatibility with every reader, browser, phone or tablet is not guaranteed.

Do I need Canva or another planning app?

No. Canva, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, GoodNotes and Notion are not required. The kit is supplied as print and fillable PDFs. Editable Canva templates, Word documents and design-source files are not included.

Do I need to use all 11 layouts?

No. Use only the pages that help with the meeting. For a typical meeting, you might use the Meeting Planner, one 30-, 60- or 90-Minute Meeting Guide, and Meeting Notes & Ratings. Host Rescue, genre prompts, next-book planning and the recap are available when useful.

Is the Optional Club Recap required?

No. The recap is completely optional. Meeting Notes & Ratings works on its own. Use the recap only when you want to share a short private update after the meeting, and leave any unnecessary sections blank.

What happens if some members did not finish the book?

The timed guides and Host Rescue include support for mixed or limited reading completion. The group still needs some shared material to discuss, such as the premise, an early section or selected passages. The kit does not promise a substantive discussion when nobody has read or reviewed any shared material.

Can the kit be used for virtual or hybrid meetings?

Yes. The kit can support in-person, virtual or hybrid book club meetings. You can type into the fillable PDFs or print the pages you want to keep nearby during the discussion.

Can I share the files with the other members of my club?

One purchase covers one private, non-commercial book club, including repeated meetings and rotating hosts within that same club. You may print reasonable copies for members, allow rotating hosts within that club to use the files for club meetings, and privately share completed or flattened recaps and completed meeting materials. Do not share blank or fillable source files outside the licensed club, post the original PDFs or ZIP online, place them in a public or shared resource library, or use one purchase for multiple unrelated clubs.

Can I use this for a school, library, paid group or business?

The included license is for one private, non-commercial book club. Schools, libraries, businesses, professional facilitators, paid groups and multi-site programs need separate written permission through an organizational or commercial license. Contact Jo Designs Stuff through the Wix Contact page before using the kit for those purposes.

Can the files be customized?

Customization is not included. The product does not include custom text, colors, fonts, layouts, pages, form fields or conversion to another format. Editable design-source files are not supplied.

Are refunds available?

Because this is a digital product supplied promptly after purchase, change-of-mind refunds are generally not offered after the files have been accessed or downloaded. Please contact Jo Designs Stuff if your download is missing, corrupted, incomplete or incorrect; if you were charged more than once; if the product is materially different from its description; or if applicable law requires another remedy. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot legally be waived.

What should I do if my download or PDF does not work?

Use the Jo Designs Stuff Wix Contact page and include the email address used for the order, the device you are using, the PDF app you opened, and a screenshot with a short description of the problem. Support covers missing access, corrupted or incorrect files, identifying the correct file, basic opening, saving and printing guidance, and reproducible product-file defects. We aim to reply within 1–2 business days, excluding weekends and holidays.
